Combining a job with your studies can be a challenge. It requires a lot of planning, discipline and perseverance. As a registered working student, you can rely on the services of Centrum WeST, the Centre for Work and Studying, at the University of Antwerp.

Information and services

Centrum WeST, the Centre for Work and Studying, provides the following services:

  • general information about combining a job with your studies
  • tailor-made information about particular university programmes and services
  • preparatory workshops for working students
  • a book service that lets you pick up your books after office hours
  • an annual Open Evening for all working students
  • information about paid educational leave and training vouchers
  • registration as a working student

Registration and facilities

Are you combining work and studies? Then consider registering as a working student.

If you register as a working student after your central enrolment, you can request special considerations for classes and exams and take advantage of the services available for working students (lecturers decide independently on awarding facilities). In turn, the University of Antwerp also receives additional funding for registered working students. This extra funding means that the university can continue to offer certain programmes in the evening or via blended learning on a long-term basis.

The registration criteria relate to your job situation and your study programme. You will need to register again each academic year.

Activities for working students

Centrum WeST holds an Open Evening at the start of each academic year for working students in all programmes at the Agora Café on ‘Stadscampus’. During this Open Evening you can exchange tips, experiences and expertise with our staff and other students who know what it's like to combine work and studies.

Newsletter

Our newsletter aims to keep both present and future working students informed about their options at the University of Antwerp.
