Cable bacteria conduct electrons over centimeter distances via highly conductive fibers embedded in their cell envelope. My research focus on the characterization of electron conducting structure in cable bacteria, more specifically the protein fiber network in cable bacteria that allows this unique electron transport. I use advanced microscopic techniques and biophysical tools to understand the mechanism of this new form of biological electron transport.
