Emily Bell began her PhD with the Centre for Manuscript Genetics in October 2019, having previously studied at the National University of Ireland, Galway (MA, 2019) and the University of Oxford (BA, 2017). Her research interests include Irish modernism, bibliography and genetic criticism. Focusing on intertextuality in the works of James Joyce and contemporary intertextualists, her research aims to elicit a continuity between pre- and post-modernist intertextual methods, pushing back on Joycean exceptionalism. Her PhD also comprises the realisation of a digital edition of Joyce’s library.
