I am a marine microbe enthusiast! I work at the interface of microbiology, geochemistry, and ecology to investigate the who, what, and how of microbial communities living in (mostly stinky-sulfidic) coastal sediments. I work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists to describe a novel electrogenic bacterium - aka “cable bacteria”. Interestingly, cable bacteria appear to not work alone, but rather form electric connections with other microbes. Here is where I contribute my grain of sand, studying the electrical microbial ecosphere that is enabled by the unique metabolism of cable bacteria.

If you want to learn about these incredible electric bacteria visit our webpage: www.microbial-electricity.eu
