Research context and mission

Flanders is a nutrient hotspot because of high nutrient losses along the fertilizer to food chain. The  research of dr. ir. Abbas Alloul will focus on novel purple bacteria biotechnology to recover these precious nutrients.  Key in the project is acquiring insights in the production of purple bacteria, in order to demonstrate that these organisms can represent a sustainable novel source of feed in the Flemish bio-industry.
