Ready or Not? Rethinking Return-to-Play after Injury.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Antwerp is pleased to invite you to a guest lecture by Dr. Aneurin Robyn (Stellenbosch University, SA Rugby).
This lecture explores the complexity of Return-to-Play decisions, blending clinical reasoning with up-to-date evidence. It focuses on using objective testing, functional benchmarks, and psychological readiness to guide athlete reintegration. The session offers practical tools and test batteries to support safe, confident RTP across elite and everyday sports settings.
The lecture will take place on Thursday 15 May at 7:00 PM at Campus Drie Eiken. This promises to be an insightful session for anyone interested in sports physiotherapy, rehabilitation, or elite athlete performance management.
Short bio
Dr. Aneurin Robyn is an experienced physiotherapist with a special interest in sports injuries and athlete performance management. He graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2004, completed his MPhil in Exercise Science in 2013, and earned his PhD in 2022. His doctoral research focused on the Return to Play of Elite Rugby Players after severe knee injury.
Dr. Robyn currently is the team physiotherapist for the Springboks and held the same role with the Stormers from 2016 to 2024. His expertise extends beyond rugby, having worked with several national sports teams, including athletics, hockey, and volleyball.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Robyn is actively involved in academia. He supervises master's students, lectures as a guest at Stellenbosch University, and contributes to global sports medicine education as a World Rugby Medical Educator.
