Cooperation

Both in the Bachelor's and Master's programme, here is close cooperation with different institutions and industrial stakeholders. As a result, students are always being taught by experts in the field.

Cooperation with other universities

In the bachelor of Bioscience Engineering, a couple of courses are being taught by professors who are appointed at other universities (University of Leuven, Ghent University or VUB). This way specific courses in the different specilisationos of Bioscience Engineering can be offered. This results in a smooth transition to the master programme at another university.

The University of Antwerp offers the Master of Bioscience Engineering: Sustainable Urban Bioscience Engineering in collaboration with Ghent University and KU Leuven. So in this master's programme, you will be taught by professors from the three universities, on the different campuses and can use lab and other infrastructure of the three partner institutions. Some courses are taught jointly by two universities, others are taught entirely by one of the universities. The complementary expertise in addressing urban environmental challenges takes the programme to the next level. An interuniversity education committee monitors the quality of the master's programme.

Cooperation with VITO

The Flemish Institute for Technological Research is an independent and customer-oriented research organisation. VITO provides innovative technological solutions as well as scientifically based advice and support in order to stimulate sustainable development and reinforce the economic and social fabric of Flanders. The institute is closely associated with the department of Bioscience Engineering, resulting in several courses being taught by experts in the field:

Soil processes (dr. Piet Seuntjens)
Environmental Technology  & Environmental stress (dr. Ludo Diels)
Environmental Technology & waste management (dr. Karl Vrancken)
