Synergy Platform

What

The Synergy platform aims to facilitate interaction between the demand for evaluation studies and those who have the capacity to undertake evaluation studies and research (i.e. evaluation supply).
The platform stimulates networking and knowledge exchange through annual result sharing seminars. The platform will act as a broker between demand and supply to enable demand driven evaluative activities (e.g. needs assessment, evaluability study, M&E system diagnosis, process and impact evaluation, theory based evaluation) to be carried out by students from both the Mzumbe University  and IOB (UAntwerp). Methodology workshops will be organized to update or learn (new) evaluation methodologies.

Why

The aim of the Synergy Platform is to make evaluative activities of students/staff more demand driven and directly development relevant.  The platform will increase ‘evaluative’ knowledge and use among development actors.

Who

The synergy platform will bring together students, alumni and staff from both the University of Mzumbe (Tanzania) and IOB, UAntwerp (Belgium) with Tanzania based development actors (NGOs, Ministries, Belgian Embassy, BTC).

What kind of 'evaluative work' can they do?

The Synergy platform aims to facilitate interaction between the demand for evaluation studies and those who have the capacity to undertake evaluation studies and research (i.e. evaluation supply). The evaluative activities will be done by IOB students/ alumni and Mzumbe students in cooperation with the staff of IOB/ Mzumbe University.
To get an idea about the type of topics and methods used, we provide a list with previous IOB dissertations ( also with online access to the dissertation)
