Candidates who need financial assistance should explore all sources of financial aid that may be available in their home country. During selection, priority will be given to candidates who are self-financed or sponsored by their organisations.
If you wish to apply for an external scholarship, please notify C-MAT well in advance. Please note that some scholarships have special requirements and longer application procedures.
Candidates should be aware that accommodation and living expenses can vary considerably depending on personal lifestyles. The average monthly budget for one student amounts to 680 euros (including accommodation, insurance and health care).
Partial scholarship from the Government of Flanders
A limited number of partial scholarships (reduction in tuition fee and a monthly grant) may be available from the Foreign Affairs office of the Government of Flanders to students from countries with which the Foreign Affairs office has a bilateral agreement. C-MAT obtained a limited number of these partial scholarships for academic year 2024-2025.
You should also bear in mind that partial scholarships are in great demand. The chances of being granted a partial scholarship are therefore slim. The selection for scholarship students will be made at the latest in June.

- The Belgian Development Agency (www.btcctb.org) offers grants to master and PhD students from their partner countries: Algeria, Benin, Bolivia, Burundi, DR Congo, Ecuador, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine, Peru, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Vietnam. If you are a national from one of these countries, please contact the Belgian Embassy or Consulate for more information.
