C-MAT staff develops and applies a wide array of quantitative techniques and management tools in strategic market analysis, policy formulation and logistics network optimisation. Their research activities are embedded in the Faculty of Applied Economics and encompass both academic research and the provision of contractual advice to governments, NGOs and private enterprises.
The research activities of C-MAT staff cover various topics in the field of air transport and maritime economics and management. These include, for example, current issues in port/maritime economics, airport/air transport economics and management (e.g. port/airport competitiveness and competition, port productivity, policy, strategic planning, traffic forecasting, shipping networks, global supply chains, etc.), market organisation and modal choice in land and hinterland transportation (intermodal transport, rail, road, barge and pipeline), current issues in ports and airports and the maritime and airline industries as well as the integration of transport and logistics.
