The documentary 'On Air' tells the story of a controversial radio station in Burundi.
Bob Rugurika is a passionate, charismatic journalist. As director of Radio Publique Africaine (RPA), the most popular independent radio station in Burundi, it is his mission to fight for human rights. He is willing to risk his life to reveal the truth.

With the RPA he constantly challenges the regime and becomes his enemy number one. When Bob reveals in a radio report the involvement of President Nkurunziza's right hand in the macabre murder of three nuns, he is immediately arrested and imprisoned.

Under international pressure, he is released after a month. A euphoric crowd welcomes him on his return to the RPA. But from then on, Bob is threatened with death and eventually has to flee the country.

However, the other RPA journalists continue the movement that Bob started and witness many Burundians taking to the streets to defend democracy and fight for justice.

We follow Bob Rugurika and the other RPA journalists in the run-up to the 2015 elections. Forced to work in precarious conditions, they see their country revert to dictatorship.
