Call for papers: closed

With a focus on development policies and practices in the DRC, this conference will provide an overview of recent social science research in and on the DRC.

Participants will have the opportunity to communicate research results to decision-makers and to strengthen national and international academic contacts.

The conference wants to promote a multidisciplinary perspective and welcomes contributions with a variety of methodological and theoretical approaches.

Presentations can be in English or in French.

For the academic sessions, we invite paper presentation proposals that fit within the general theme of the conference, and more in particular with one of the following sub-themes:

  • Political economy of the DRC
  • Public sector reforms
  • Governance of mineral resources
  • Gender and development
  • Access to land and agriculture
  • Livelihoods and socio-economic inequalities

Deadline for submission

Abstracts (150-250 words) with a provisional title, the names of all authors and their institutional affiliation must be submitted through the online form on this website by 22 July at the latest.

The academic committee will inform you of its decision by August 10th 2018.

Academic committee

Submissions will be reviewed by members of an academic committee consisting of Congolese and European DR-Congo experts.

Travel Grants

A limited number of travel grants for Congolese researchers residing outside of Kinshasa will be available. If you wish to apply for this, please indicate so on the registration form and attach a copy of your ID card.
