With the conference venue in the heart of Antwerp, conference participants will have ample opportunity to explore the centre for traditional and novel attractions in their own time.
Those of you already here on Sunday 21 May may want to join us on a bike tour in the city and its surroundings. Contact GABC2017@uantwerpen.be before 18 May if you would like to participate. Starts outside Antwerp Central Station, Starbucks, 16:30.
Monday 22 May will feature a conference dinner at the University Club in the evening, 20:00. Please register before 18 May if you would like to take part.
The University of Antwerp houses more than 1100 works of art on its premises, with remarkable paintings by Fred Bervoets and Sam Dillemans on the City Campus. A city guide will take a maximum of 20 interested participants on a discovery tour on Tuesday 23 May, 17:30-19:30. Register by Tuesday 23 May noon.
On Wednesday 24 May we will propose at least two group visits to choose from. A visit to the Red Star Line Museum will bring you closer to some of the stories of 2M people from all over Europe who used the port of Antwerp as the gateway to a better life in the New World. Alternatively, you might like a tour inside De Koninck's traditional city brewery with some complimentary beer tasting and an exploration of other typical crafts shops on the premises. Wednesday afternoon, 14:00-16:30 approx. Register by Monday 22 May evening.
