The University of Antwerp (AXES group) and Musea Brugge (Municipal Museums of Bruges) have the pleasure to invite you to the 2019 edition of Technart. The sixth edition of this biannual conference will take place in the historic city centre of Bruges (Belgium), which is listed as UNESCO world heritage.
The conference will take place in the medieval Saint John's Hospital (Oud Sint-Jan), one of the oldest European infirmaries. This is located in the heart of the city, close to the Cathedral and at walking distance to various heritage sites such as the Groeningemuseum, the Chapel of the Holy Blood, the Belfry, the Beguinage, etc.
According to UNESCO, Bruges (Brugge in Flemish) is an outstanding example of a medieval settlement, which has maintained its historic fabric over the centuries, with various original Gothic constructions forming the town's identity.
In the 15th century, Brugge was the cradle of the Flemish Primitives and a centre of patronage and painting for artists such as Jan van Eyck and Hans Memling. Many of their works were exported and influenced painting styles all over Europe. Exceptionally important collections have remained in the city until today.
We hope to welcome you there!
