The physical collection of books and periodicals is located in the library on the City Campus, within walking distance (five minutes) of IOB. This library has 17,000 m² of public space, giving access to over 500,000 volumes in open access and providing over 800 user seats. 200 computers allow the students to access over 12.000 electronic journals and more than 100 databases. Students can also access the internet at the wireless hotspots in the library.
IOB has been given a separate space in this building for 25,000 volumes and 60 user seats. The older part of the IOB collection will be housed in the closed stacks of the library in the same location. It is impossible to give precise information on the number of volumes in the collection since the bound volumes of journals in the former RUCA collection have no barcodes. The collection is estimated to contain about 50,000 volumes, just over 10,000 of which are monographs. This makes the IOB library the best stocked development studies library in the country.
The IOB collection is located on the second floor of the central library building. Hans De Backer is responsible for the IOB library and can be reached at the address listed on the right.
