The University of Antwerp promotes active pluralism.

Active pluralism is not a philosophical belief in itself, but it takes belief and all its manifestations seriously and encourages dialogue within and among the various religions and ideologies.

  • The Pieter Gillis Centre is the university's centre of reflection for active pluralism. The centre provides education and services as well as conducting research, and is also responsible for the course on philosophical beliefs which is part of all University of Antwerp Bachelor programmes.

  • Our actively pluralistic approach is also reflected in a number of services for students:
    Quiet space
    Pastoral care
    Secular service
