Conference "Governance, Peace and Development in Burundi"

Researchers from different social science disciplines will gather at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) on 5-6 July 2018 to present and discuss academic research related to Burundi. The conference will cover the broad themes of governance, peace and development and the linkages between them. This is the third conference, following earlier meetings in Ghent (2015) and Brussels (2017) initiated by the Burundi Research Network.

10.45-12.30: First series of panels (Two to three parallel sessions – depending on the type and number of presentations).
12.30-13.30: Lunch
13.30-15.15: Second series of panels (Two to three parallel sessions – depending on the type and number of presentations).
15.15-15.45: Coffee Break
15.45-17.30: Third series of panels(Two to three parallel sessions – depending on the type and number of presentations).
17.30-18.30: Reception

11.15-12.30: Key Note Speech by Prof. Devon Curtis, University of Cambridge (UK)
12.30-13.30: Lunch
13.30-15.45: Discussion forum “University, Knowledge and Society”
- Opening remarks by Prof. Juma Shabani, Director of the Doctoral School at the Université du Burundi
- Panel debate (with NGOs, policy makers, etc.)
15.45-16.00: Closing Remarks by Prof. Em. Filip Reyntjens, IOB, University of Antwerp
