Human and environmental risk

Sustainable chemistry is only sustainable if the human and environmental impact is as low as possibly can be achieved. Therefor we support all sustainable chemistry projects with an in depth follow up of potential ecotoxicological impact and human risk. This follow up is based on two important and cooperating methodologies: (i) evaluation of the ecotoxicological and human aspects and (ii) in depth  chemical analysis, both elemental and organic.

This process is achieved by a close collaboration between the chemical departments’ research groups and specialized research groups of the Department of Biology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, respectively Sphere and the Toxicological Centre.
