Background Information Projects

Projects represent an amount of financial resources made available to a promoter (usually a tenured academic staff member) to carry out a specific research project that is submitted to an external financing agency in response to a call. Project funds are usually also spent on the creation of one or more research positions.

Research conducted at the University of Antwerp is largely subsidized through research projects that are submitted to a wide array of external financing channels; however, the university itself also finances projects from its research budget. In addition to payroll costs, operational expenses and/or purchases of scientific infrastructure may also be included in project budgets.
