A limited number of postdoctoral fellowships are financed through the Industrial Research Fund (Dutch abbrev.: IOF) of the University of Antwerp. An IOF postdoctoral position is basically a permanent appointment. It is the IOF research and innovation manager’s task to forge a structure around the different research groups of the welcoming research consortium in view of the further development of research results and the active valorisation and introduction on the market of these results. The activities of the IOF research and innovation managers are to result in an increase in the IOF parameters for the Antwerp University Association.
Prior to publishing the position, a research consortium has to be created. This consortium integrates at least 2 different research groups, resulting in sufficient critical mass and a strategic added value for the University of Antwerp, the Antwerp University Association and University Colleges. The consortium subsequently prepares the text of the external vacancy for the IOF postdoctoral researcher.
