In the 19th century, urban planning had to serve as a kind of spatial vaccine against the many plagues our cities had resisted. So far, spatial planning is mainly trying to limit or mitigate the negative impact of the environment on our health. Less air pollution, less traffic casualties, less noise, ...

What if we were to reorganize our environment in such a way that it contributes to our immunity and health? The city as our vaccine. Our environment on doctor's orders. Our neighborhood as a medicine. Our research group studies what makes our living environment not only "livable", but how our cities and neighborhoods make and keep us healthy?
