Collaboration with UAntwerp and the university college partners

The University of Antwerp’s Nursing and Midwifery programme began its life in academic year 2004-2005 as a bridging programme. It became a fully-fledged programme with a Master year in academic year 2005-2006.  The start-up and development of the programme was the outcome of close collaboration with the Bachelor programmes offered by Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen, Karel de Grote Hogeschool and HZ University of Applied Sciences. This collaboration is still reflected in the Educational Commission, the Department of Nursing and Midwifery and a cooperation agreement signed with the founding of a UAntwerp Steering Committee for Nursing and Midwifery.

The department strives to achieve a national and international reputation and has the following specific objectives:

  • To guarantee the recruitment of new students and position the programme(s) in regional, national and international study programmes
  • To strengthen the scientific position of the lines of research being pursued and to maximise access to potential research projects through partnerships and networks both nationally and internationally
