The Department of Radiology (led by prof. Paul Parizel) at Antwerp University Hospital (UZA) and the University of Antwerp is a tertiary referral center with an academic mission. The department has a fully digital imaging platform, with state-of-the art equipment covering all major diagnostic and interventional modalities including:

  • radiography (X-ray)
  • mammography
  • angiography
  • computer tomography (CT)
  • echography
  • magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). 

More than 160,000 procedures are performed per year. In addition to providing clinical radiology services to the medical community, the department of radiology has a dedication to education and training. The research of the department is highly integrated with its clinical activities and focusses on further development of radiological methods (from both a technical and medical perspective) and to evaluate the clinical value of new methods. The department has five functional divisions: 1. angiography- en intervention radiology; 2 body imaging (thorax, abdomen,  pelvis, cardiovascular); 3 mammography; 4musculo-skeletal imaging and  5 neuroradiology.
