FWO grant for Nadine Schrenker

Congratulations to Nadine Schrenker! She obtained a Junior Post-Doc Fellowship. The grant, entitled “Low dose in situ electron microscopy studyon metal halide perovskites: Unravelling the role of defects and degradationmechanisms under bias, oxygen and moisture”, will start in October 2021 and will run for 3 years.

Titled "Thermal stability and three-dimensional structural evolution of Pt coated Au Nanorods", Ece Arslan Irmak & Adrian Pedrazo Tardajos won the second posterprize at the virtual conference of Eusmi 2020. Congratulations!

2020 JEOL-EM Award

The jury decided to offer the Physical/Materials Sciences and Optics Award to Prof. Dr. Sara BALS  from EMAT-University of Antwerp, Belgium, for her outstanding achievements in the field of 3D electron tomography.

"By combining state-of-the-art electron microscopy with advanced reconstruction algorithms, Sara Bals has significantly contributed to development and implementation of this method which today enables determination of the positions and chemical nature of atoms in individual nanoparticles. The research of Sara Bals is highly innovative and widely recognized by the EM scientific community."

Best Paper Honorable Mention

Congratulations to Dr. PourbabakDr. OrekhovDr. Samaee, Prof. Verlinden, Prof. Van Humbeeck and Prof. Schryvers! Their manuscript In-Situ TEM Stress Induced Martensitic Transformation in Ni50.8Ti49.2 Microwires is recognized as the Best Paper Honorable Mention in Volume 5 of Shape Memory and Superelasticity.

Their wonderful accomplishment will be formally recognized at SMST 2021, which will be taking place May 17-21, 2021, at The Westin Carlsbad Resort in Carlsbad, California, USA.The designation was chosen by the Associate Editors of Shape Memory and Superelasticity with the results compiled by the journals publication staff at ASM International.
