BEASt - Built Environment Assessing Sustainability
The built environment is the result of a chain of materials, companies and people and their interaction. Therefore, defining sustainability in one area affects the definition in other parts of this chain. This conceptual challenge is addressed in the research on sustainability assessments.
As the domain of application is strongly characterized by buildings themselves, a particular interest is paid to their interaction with users and building infrastructure. Hereby energy efficiency is an important part, but not sole criteria of sustainability.
