Egon Stahl Award 2018

The Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research has awarded its biannual “Egon Stahl Award 2018” to Dr. Emmy Tuenter for her thesis “Cyclopeptide Alkaloids: Isolation, Structure Elucidation, Antiplasmodial Activity and AGEs Inhibiting Properties”.

The “Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research” is the most important scientific society worldwide in the field of natural product research.

The Society has awarded its biannual “Egon Stahl Award 2018” to Dr. Emmy Tuenter, who has obtained her PhD in 2017 at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in the NatuRa research group (supervisors: Luc Pieters and Nina Hermans), where she is still active as a post-doctoral researcher.

Title of the thesis was “Cyclopeptide Alkaloids: Isolation, Structure Elucidation, Antiplasmodial Activity and AGEs Inhibiting Properties”.

This award is given every 2 years to the most promising young investigator in the area of Pharmacognosy and Analytical Phytochemistry, based on the quality of the PhD thesis and the associated publications. Dr. Emmy Tuenter has accepted the award on 27 August 2018 during the “award ceremony” of the annual meeting of the Society, which was held this year from 26 to 29 August in Shanghai. Emmy Tuenter has been able to present her work in a plenary lecture.
