Federica Baldan successfully defends her Ph.D. thesis

On 22 January 2019 our colleague Federica Baldan successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis "Fostering judicial coherence in the European patent system: lessons from the United States and Japan." The research group Government and Law congratulates Federica on this outstanding accomplishment and her valuable contributions to the European patent system. Members of the doctoral jury included prof. dr. F. Swennen (Chair - University of Antwerp), prof. dr. J. Anderson (American University Washington College of Law), prof. dr. P. Blok (Utrecht University), prof. dr. P. Popelier (University of Antwerp), prof. dr. I. Schneider (Universität Hamburg), and prof. dr. H. Vanhees (University of Antwerp). Federica's Ph.D. research was supervised by Prof dr. E. van Zimmeren (University of Antwerp).

Early carreer scholars in labour and social law conference: Call for Papers

 The University of Antwerp in collaboration with the Catholic University of Leuven, the University of Hasselt, the University of Liège and the Belgian Early Career Scholars in social Law Section of Begasoz/Abetrass, invite submissions for the full-day Early Career Scholars Conference: “In search of sustainable employment: Discussing the challenges and addressing the opportunities of labour and social security laws in a national and international perspective” to be held in Antwerp, Belgium at the University of Antwerp on Friday 10th of May 2019.

Submission instructions

Early career scholars interested are invited to respond to this call for papers with a maximum 500 words abstract in English and a brief academic resume. Proposals should be submitted by email to the labourlawconference@uantwerpen.be no later than 1st of March 2019. Successful applicants will be selected and notified no later than 10th of March 2019.
