The Government and Law Research Group of the University of Antwerp in collaboration with the Catholic University of Leuven, the Free University of Brussels, and the University of Hasselt invite submissions for a full-day eight annual doctoral conference on “Values and principles in multilevel governance: challenges and opportunities” to be held in Antwerp, Belgium at the University of Antwerp on 25 May 2018. Papers are welcomed on values and principles in multilevel governance from comparative, doctrinal and theoretical perspectives. This includes, but is not limited to constitutional law, international public law, EU law, labor law, legal theory, and human rights. The purpose of the conference is to convene a group of doctoral students and doctoral researchers for a discussion on emerging questions in multilevel governance, as well as for a social interaction and networking. Others interested in the subject are also more than welcome. The conference will host presentations from doctoral researchers in a paper session followed by a group discussion, and poster sessions. A soapbox session will be organized as well. The conference itself will be held in English. However, proposals can be submitted in Dutch or in English for non-native speakers of the Dutch language. The conveners will publish the papers in the special edition of the Journal of Governance studies and Public Law (Tijdschrift voor Bestuurswetenschappen en Publiekrecht).
Doctoral students and doctoral researchers interested are invited to respond to this call for papers with a maximum 500 words abstract in Dutch or English and a short CV. Proposals should be submitted by email to the firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 15 January 2018. Successful applicants will be selected and notified no later than 25 January 2018.
