ESCMID Postgraduate Technical Workshop, 12 - 15 June 2023 in Lausanne, Switzerland

Diagnostic Microbiology: MALDI-TOF, Genomics, Metagenomics, Automation and Molecular Microbiology - 2nd course

Organised by ESCMID Study Group for Molecular Diagnostics (ESGMD) and CHUV, Lausanne University Hospital, University of Lausanne

This course aims to provide a unique platform to learn about the strengths and limitations of current and new diagnostic tools including MALDI-TOF, molecular diagnosis, genomics and metagenomics, as well as novel innovative technics such as nanomechanical sensors and atomic force microscopy. The course also offers a unique opportunity for participants to gain practical experience during the practicals led by local microbiologists.

On Wednesday 14 June 2023, Surbhi Malhotra-Kumar, clinical and molecular microbiologist and head of the Laboratory of Medical Microbiology, will give two talks about 'Genomics: clinical applications' and 'Gut metagenomics: beyond clinical microbiology'.

ESCMID Postgraduate Technical Workshop, 4-8 September 2023 in Palma, Spain

Hands-on workshop on Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistance phenotypes and whole genome sequence resistome analysis

Organised by ESCMID Study Group for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (ESGARS) and the AmReSu EU2020 project & JPIAMR Network “Improving surveillance of antibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Europe (ISARPAE)”

The aim of the course is to provide a practical training on antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, with a particular focus on Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistance phenotypes and whole genome sequence resistome analysis.

On Thursday 7 September 2023, Surbhi Malhotra-Kumarclinical and molecular microbiologist and head of the Laboratory of Medical Microbiology, will give a talk on 'Colistin resistance mechanisms andepidemiology'.
