Lore Veelaert

Lore obtained a master’s degree in Product Development (2015) at the Design Sciences faculty, Antwerp University. Subsequently, she started working as a research assistant on the interdisciplinary project Design From Recycling, a collaboration between Product Development, UGent (CPMT) and industry. She developed a toolbox with design manuals that support designers in the design process with recycled materials as starting point.

Since November 2017, she further immerses herself in the world of materials experience, and researches in her PhD how designers can select suitable (plastic) materials early in the design process, based on the fit between the end-user’s personality and the expressive values that materials can evoke. One aspect is the search for an ideal demonstrator form that triggers consumers to fully explore a material.
