Current biosciences research is characterised by the integration and systematic analysis of large datasets acquired during high-throughput analyses. A swift succession of technological innovations meant that a range of new techniques became available which enable researchers to map the genome and/or transcriptome in a reliable and cost-effective manner, and these techniques were quickly integrated in bioscientific research.
The so-called-"omics" technologies have been used in various research domains at the University of Antwerp, often as part of an integrated approach.
