The research group is specialized in structure-function analysis, pharmacology and molecular cell biology of voltage-gated K+ (Kv) channels. The area of research focuses around four specific topics:
(1) elucidating how Kv channels operate at the molecular level,
(2) investigating the physiological role of Kv subunits in vivo and the effect of congenital and acquired channelopathies.
(3) pharmacology and toxicology, unraveling the mechanism by which toxins and drugs modulate Kv channels,
(4) determining how auxiliary subunits modulate the behavior of Kv channels.
