The AnSyMo and CoSys-Lab research groups are part of one of the four virtual departments of Flanders Make, VD2 Mechatronics & Design Methods.
Flanders Make is the strategic research centre for the manufacturing industry. In it, Flanders’ DRIVE, Flanders’ Mechatronics Technology Centre (FMTC) and laboratories of the 5 Flemish universities join forces to set up a top-level research network in Flanders. Together, they support companies – through pre-competition research – in the manufacturing industry to innovate and, as such, strengthen their international competitive position.
Flanders Make focuses on product and process innovation together with and to the benefit of companies in the Flemish manufacturing industry. Technological research and innovation in the field of mechatronics, product development methods and production technologies, all driven by the challenges and needs of the industry, provide the basis for this.
This will, as a first step, result in actual applications for machines, vehicles, vehicle components and high-tech production systems for the participating companies. Subsequently, the research results will be made available to companies within the wider manufacturing industry.
Flanders Make already works together with a large number of companies on 8 research programmes:
- Clean energy-efficient motion systems
- Smart monitoring systems
- High-performance autonomous mechatronic systems
- Intelligent product design methods
- Design and manufacturing of smart and lightweight structures
- Additive manufacturing for serial production
- Manufacturing for high-precision products
- Agile and human-centred production and robotic systems
