The Beckett Trilogy - Samuel Beckett’s towering novels MolloyMalone Dies, and The Unnamable cycle between comic storytelling by a philosophical vagrant, an elderly man lost to memory and fantasy, and a paralyzed protagonist. 2013

Pan Pan Theatre is proud to present their production of Beckett's All That Fall. This production has taken two Irish Times theatre awards, has received huge critical and audience acclaim in Dublin, at the Beckett festival in Enniskillen, and at the New Wave festival at BAM in New York. After being performed at the Samuel Beckett Theatre (Dublin) from 11 to 20 April 2013, the show is scheduled to travel to the Edinburgh International Festival in August (25 - 26 Aug 2013) along with their production of EMBERS (24 - 25 Aug 2013), which will premiere at the Becket Summer School in TCD (- 17 Aug 2013). Theater Zuidpool (Antwerp, Belgium) performs four short dramatic and prose works by Samuel Beckett (Niet ik, Stille sidders, Die keer, Wiegelied) on 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 31 May and 1 June 2013. 

The Istanbul Municipal Theater performs Playat the Bozar Theatre (Brussels, Belgium) on 26 and 27 April 2013. 

NTGent restages its 2008 production of 'Krapps Laatste Band'. The play will be performed at the NTGent Minnemeers (Ghent, Belgium) on 28-30 March 2013, and at the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam (Netherlands) on 22 April 2013.

The Two River Theater Company -- Jonathan Fox, Artistic Director -- presented a centennial Beckett festival from March 16th to April 2nd in Red Bank, New Jersey. The festival included a production of Waiting for Godot, directed by Seth Barish, and two alternating programs of the short plays, directed by Jonathan Fox.  Edward Albee presented the keynote talk on March 18th; Barney Rosset spoke on March 19th; and Lois Oppenheim moderated a directors panel with Olympia Dukakis, Carey Perloff, Barish, and Fox on March 27th. ( www.trtc.org )

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Irish writer Samuel Beckett, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA, www.mcachicago.org ), Chicago, presented the exhibition Not I: A Samuel Beckett Centenary Celebration, from January 13 to April 23, 2006 . The central work of the exhibition was the 15-minute play by Beckett, Not I. The exhibit also included drawings of Studies for Elliot's Stones by the artist Bruce Nauman, who was heavily influenced by Beckett (cf. his film Slow Angle Walk (Beckett Walk), 1968).

In association with The Beckett Centenary Festival, Dublin Docklands Development Authority & The Irish Museum of Modern Art (Kilmainham) Gare St Lazare Players Ireland presented ACCESS ALL BECKETT April 6 - 14 2006. Secret Theatre, New Haven, CT - Secret Theatre, the New London-based arts collective, in association with ghostcrab, presented Waiting for Godot at the Little Theatre from November 5 - November 20. Tim Lee directed this revival with a cast comprised of Rob DaPonte, Milt Angelopoulos, Larry Ryan, Tim Sparen, and John Angelopoulos. The design team was comprised of: Shima Ushiba (Costumes), Mike Libera (Lighting), and Fitz Gitler (Sound).

The Ensemble for Contemporary Music at the University of California Santa Barbara presented Musica/verbum with Cascando performed by Irwin Appel as Opener and James Donlon as Voice, accompanied by the performers of the Ensemble of William Kraft's score. The concert also included pieces by Robert Erickson, Alan Ridout, and Elisabeth Lutyens. Thursday Nov. 11 in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall on the UCSB campus.

Dramaten, The Royal Dramatic Theatre, Stockholm presented a mixed bill of Beckett short plays. It opened on 25 September: Natt och drömmar en kväll med Samuel Beckett.

Cabaret Theatre on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers presented Waiting for Godot to October 31, 2004.

Progress Theatre, The Mount, Reading, presented Happy Days, Monday 11th - Saturday 16th October, 2004, 7.45 p.m. Director: Anne Latto, postgraduate student in Film, Theatre and Television Studies; Consultant: Professor James Knowlson, author of a prize-winning biography of Beckett; Actors: Pauline Gray, an experienced performer of Beckett's works, and Jeremy Rowe, Chairman of Progress Theatre.

Rubicon Theatre Company's BeckettFest presented, among many other plays and events, Waiting for Godot, September 2 through October 3. The play was directed by Walter Asmus and featured Emmy Award-winning actor Joe Spano and Robin Gammell as Vladimir and Estragon, Cliff DeYoung as Pozzo, and Ted Neelly as Lucky. The festival also included productions of Krapp's Last Tape, with Rick Cluchey as Krapp, Happy Days, directed by Jenny Sullivan, with Robin Pearson Rose as Winnie, Rockaby, directed by David Payne with Susan Clark, Footfalls and A Piece of Monologue, directed by Walter Asmus, a reprise of Jack Mc Gowran's Beckett monologue, Beginning to End, by Cliff DeYoung, plus panels and other events. FourScore Productions in association with the BlueSphere Alliance, recently opened a play at the Lex Theater in Hollywood entitled Godot Has Left the Building.

Rorschach Productions presented four plays by Beckett and Sam Shepard. In its inaugural offering, Rorschach staged Catastrophe, Breath, (Beckett), Red Cross, andCowboys #2 (Shepard) at the Buntport Theatre, Denver. Beginning November 29th and running through December 22nd.

The Arena Theatre on the campus of CSULA presented Cliff DeYoung in the Works of Samuel Beckett, an anthology of 17 excerpts from Beckett's drama and fiction woven into a coninuous 80-minute monologue. Originally compiled by Jack MacGowran in 1962, and it had not beenseen in the U.S. for over 30 years. It ran from November 1-16.

The Cherry Lane Theatre, home of the world premiere of Happy Days (on September 17th, 1961), staged a reprise September 29 through October 27. Director Joseph Chaikin, and actors Joyce Aaron and Ron Faber. The Cherry Lane Theatre website is www.cherrylanetheatre.com.

Company of Fools presentedWaiting for Godot, October 10 through November 3rd at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey. The cast, under Rusty Wilson's direction and assistant direction by Laine Satterfield, featured Andrew Alburger, Paul Bauman, Anthony Henderson, Richard Rush and Manny Santiago. Set Design by Dennis Rexroad, who designed the Company's production of Dinner With Friends, James Joyce's The DeadTrue WestSide Man and The Seagull. This was a Back Alley Production.

California University of Pennsylvania's Department of Theatre and Dance presented Catastrophe. Performance with installation video, directed by Ryan Gialames. October 25th and 26th.

Theatre UCF at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, presented Waiting for Godot on Stage 2. October 3 through 13.

Broken Umbrella/Uninvited Guests in association with Our Shoes are Red, a theater laboratory and Muhlenberg College presented Waiting for Godot August 24-27, 2002, in the Trexler Pavillion for Theater and Dance at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Sons of Beckett Theatre Company presented Waiting For Godot at the Raven Playhouse In North Hollywood, Ca. The show is directed by J. Wienckowski and ran from August 2 - September 1, 2001. Admission is $15.00.

Bare Cheek Theatre Company presented the Irish première of A Is for Everything, a play featuring two women in Beckett's life, Lucia Joyce and Suzanne Deschevaux-Dumesnil. The play is by Caitlin Murphy and directed by Tony McCleane-Fay with Gemma Poole, Rose Marie van Gaalen. Opened at the WEXFORD ARTS CENTRE the 17th to the 20th of July and the 27th of JULY to the 3rd of August @ 8:15PM. The 26th of July is Lucia Day, a Special Gala in aid of "Schizophrenia Ireland" a Project Supported by the Arts Council of Ireland. Fugue theatre, through special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service and Chasama, presented Waiting for Godot at Chashama Experimental Theatre in New York City from July 6, 2002 through July 28, 2002. Richard Hutzler is Artistic Director of fugue theatre, an off-off-Broadway independent theatre company dedicated to performing classic works of the 20th Century.

The English Drama Group of the Technical University of Dresden premiered Waiting for Godot on July 4. The play wasgiven every day until (and including) July 14. Performances took place at the "bühne," the small student's theatre of the Technical University of Dresden.

The Brown Cow Company, Peter Pazmany University, Hungary finished a successful spring 2002 series of performances Play. The company won Best Actress & second Best Performance awards, was nominated for the Best Actor and Special Award for Lighting Technician at the Let`s Rock the Stage Festival in Poland. They also won Best Performance, Third Best Actor, Special Award for Light Technician, & two nominatons for Best Actress at the Central European English Theatre Festival of Universities in Debrecen, Hungary.

Ohio University¿s Forum Theatre presented Circus Beckett, May 15-18, and 25, 2002. The production was directed by Andrew Manly and featured many of Beckett's works, performed under a circus theme.

Seattle Repertory Theatre presented Texts For Nothing with Bill Irwin, through May 26th. This is the same production as was mounted by ACT.

HERE Arts Center at 145 Sixth Avenue (bet. Spring & Broome Sts.), NYC, presented ... and then you go on. An Anthology of the Works of SAMUEL BECKETT for 4 weeks between April 24th and May 19th, 2002. Adapted and performed by Bob Jaffe and directed by Peter Wallace, this anthology had its premiere in January, 2000 at the Perishable Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI and a subsequent run in May/June, 2001 in the Unicorn Theatre at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, Stockbridge, MA.

Auros Group for New Music, a non-profit chamber ensemble in the midst of its tenth season, and as the final concert of this anniversary celebration, held a Beckett celebration with a pre-concert screening of Beckett's Film with Buster Keaton. The concert included a performance of Quad as well as MIT Composition Professor Peter Child's chamber opera Embers. The event took place on May 17 beginning at 7:30 at Pickman Concert Hall at the the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA.

Antoine Reeves performed Krapps Last Tape at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round on 1st May, 2002, at 7.45.

Waiting for Godot was at the Gateway Theatre in Chester in April.

Beckett in Die. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the premiere of Catastrophe, the play that Beckett wrote for Vaclav Havel, Rick Cluchey's San Quentin Drama Workshop, in collaboration with Jacques Coutureau's Les Oiseaux de Passage company, performed three of Beckett's short plays on April 2, 2002, in the town of Die, in the Drôme. Cluchey himself both directed and performed in all three plays, including a staged version of Dis JoeOhio Impromptu (with Cluchey as Listener and Charles Krance as Reader), and Catastrophe, in which Rick wasjoined by two members of Les Oiseaux de Passage. This performance was sponsored by the Association Festival Est-Ouest in Die.

The Menlo School in Atherton, CA. (50 Valparaiso Ave, Atherton, CA, 94027) presented Waiting for Godot April 4-8, 2002. The show was directed by Tripp Robbins in partial fulfillment of his Master of Arts in Theatre Directing through the Chicago College of Performing Arts.

Melbourne French Theatre presented En attendant Godot in the Australian première of the French text. It was directed by Colin Duckworth and played at the Richmond Theatrette, Melbourne, Australia. 23-27 October 2001.

University of Victoria Department of Theatre produced Beckett's Endgame in The Roger Bishop Theatre, October 18th until the 27th. Director, Giles Hogya, Allan Stichbury, Set Designer, Mary Kerr, Costume Designer and Melinda Sutton, Lighting Designer. Ryan Arnold played Clov, Devon Pipars was Nell, Zachary Stevenson was Nagg (all three are student actors) and the role of Hamm was played by Professor John Krich. Mt. San Antonio Community College in Walnut, California (east of Los Angeles) staged Endgame. The play officially opened Friday, May 4 and ran for two weekends. Rick Cluchey played Hamm in this production.

Pressgang presented a selection of short plays by Samuel Beckett the 24th to 28th of April 2001 at the Old Fire Station Theatre,in Oxford, England. The production was called (it all) and comprised 5 shorts; PlayRoughs for Theatre1 & 2Footfalls, and Catastrophe.

The Beckett Birthday Bash Part IV, in the fourth year of a five year project to produce short works by Samuel Beckett, performedFootfalls,Not I, and Breath, Directed by Gerald Vanderwoude, and featuring Alumni from the University of British Columbia Performance. Crescendo Theatre Co. of Philadelphia presented two Beckett one acts, Act Without Words II and Rough For Theatre II on April 24-27 at The Playground @ The Adrienne.

NEAT (New English American Theatre). American director Charles C. Urban and his international troupe took to the boards in Bad Cannstatt, Stuttgart on the 1st of March with an unusual and very original version of Waiting for Godot. Sophie Marie Chaumette from Sweden co-directed. This event was held again on the 5,6, & 7 of April. The international cast of John Doyle and Cathie Mullen, both Irish, together with Michael Peart and Cate Swift from England and Eileen Mohring-Stemmler from America performed in Kommunales Kontact Theater Stuttgart.

The Irish Film Centre in Dublin was the venue for this unique occasion when RTÉ presented the Beckett on Film project from February 2nd - 8th 2001. The acclaimed Beckett on Film project brings together some of the most distinguished directors and actors working today. Directors include Atom Egoyan, Damien Hirst, Neil Jordan, Conor McPherson, Damian O¿Donnell,  David Mamet, Anthony Minghella, Karel Reisz and Patricia Rozema. The exceptional acting talent involved include Michael Gambon, the late John Gielgud, John Hurt, Jeremy Irons, Julianne Moore, Harold Pinter, Alan Rickman, and Kristen Scott Thomas.  Produced by Michael Colgan and Alan Moloney of Blue Angel Films, Beckett on Film is an RTÉ co-production in association with Channel 4 and the Bord Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board. The rights to film the whole Beckett canon were awarded for the first time ever to RTÉ.  The Dublin Festival was the first time ever that all 19 films are screened. The completion of this unique project was celebrated in the company of the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, the directors and special guests at the Beckett on Film celebration on February 1st in Dublin Castle.

The Beckett in Berlin 2000 Festival. Closely coordinated with the Beckett in Berlin 2000 Symposium at Humboldt University, the Festival extended from September 17th to the 30th, during which the entire corpus of Beckett plays was produced, performed, and directed by talent drawn from around the globe. The Beckett 2000 Festival was also associated with the annual "Berliner Festspiele." Rick Cluchey & the San Quentin Drama Workshop produced Krapp's Last Tape, director: Samuel Beckett, at Mt San Antonio College in Walnut, CA on Fri 9/15 & Sat 9/16 Rick Cluchey. This performance and the Q&A were filmed for the BBC and also for a documentary on Cluchey.

UK premiere of a major new European production of En Attendant Godot directed by French theatre master Luc Bondy played in London (in French with English surtitles) at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Friday June 30th to Sunday July 2nd.

Irish Rep of Chicago closed out its season this June with a return of the Buckets O' Beckett Festival (a Chicago tradition in the early 90's). The programme this year included Krapp's Last Tape, Play, Act Without Words 2 & an estate-authorised adaptation of Quad. Renaissance Theatre Company presented Waiting for Godot at the L:yceum Theatre in San Diego, May 13 to June 11.  Directed by Joan Schirle, Artistic Director of the Dell' Arte Players Company. Ron Campbell and Matt Walker played Vladimir and Estragon, respectively.  Pozzo and Lucky were played by Ollie Nash and Ron Choularton, Boy by Joey Price.

Aldergrove Community Secondary School presented Waiting for Godot this May in Aldergrove, BC, Canada.

7 Stage Theater in Atlanta staged 2 interpretations of Beckett's Texts for Nothing.  The first, in March, was adapted by Joseph Chaikin and Steven Kent; the second, in May, interpreted for dance by the Dutch choreographer Beppie Blankert with music by Louis Andressen production.

Portland Stage in Maine produced Waiting for Godot sometime in the spring.  It was directed by Michael Schwartz and included the clown Avner the Eccentric in the cast.

Endgame opened at Northwestern University, April 28, at the Josephine Louis Theatre. Directed by Melanie Dreyer, scenery by Lynne Koscielniak, Costumes by Matthew York, Lighting by Darin Keesing.

Telus Studio Theatre at the University of British Columbia, Canada, presented The Beckett Birthday Bash on April 13th, 2000. The Beckett Birthday Bash, an evening of 3 one act plays by Samuel Beckett, directed by Gerald Vanderwoude, was for one night only, Thursday, April 13th, at 7:30 pm. This year, the plays presented were BreathCome and Go, and Catastrophe.

California State University, Hayward, Department of Theatre and Dance presented An Evening of Beckett's Short Plays, directed by Ric Prindle, including Krapp's Last Tape, Act Without Words, Ohio Impromptu, Rockaby and others, April 21, 22, 28, & 29 at 8 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.

Waiting for Godot played at the Matrix Theatre, Los Angeles, until April 30, 2000. The production was directed by Andrew J. Robinson and the cast included Gregory Itzen, John Vickery, Alastair Duncan and Granville Van Dusen.

The Walters State Stage Company, Morristown TN, presented Waiting for Godot, directed by Rus Mattocks and starring Iliff McMahan and Dennis Elkins on March 24, 25, 26, 31 and April 1.

The Drama Department of The University of East Anglia, Norwich, Britain, recently produced Not I, Come and Go, Play, Footfalls, Act Without Words 1, Act Without Words 2, That Time, Ohio Impromptu, andRockaby using a Dantescan purgatory as a framework.  The show ran from the 22nd to the 25th of March 2000.

La Oficina central de los sueños presented Krapp from February 17 to March 4, 2000.  Artistic direction by Jaiber Jurado, with Ramiro Tejada playing Krapp. (La Oficina central de los sueños means Central quarters of dreams.)

Footfalls and Rockaby played at the St. Mark's Theatre on February 17-20 and 24-27.  Both shows were produced and directed by Christopher Voss.

Citizen's Theatre in Glasgow staged a production of Endgame from 3-26 February  2000.  (Director: Robert David MacDonald, Design: Kenny Miller.)

Perishable Theatre Arts Center in Providence presented the world premiere of "...and then you go on," a new one-man show from Bob Jaffe that drew from Beckett's prose, poetry and works for the theatre.  January 20-30.

Geva Theatre, in Rochester, New York, produced Waiting for Godot on its mainstage, January 4 - February 6, 2000.  Directed by Roberta Levitow.

Happy Days was performed at the Old Fire Station Theatre in Oxford, directed by Jean-Denis Ginestie, starring Laura Solon and Jean-Denis Ginestie - produced byRocking Chair Productions, 2nd - 6th November.

Happy Days (Los Días Felices) was performed from october the 7th until the 30th, by Teatro Matacandelas in Medellín, Columbia. Director: Diego Sánchez, Actores: María Isabel García Juan David Toro.

Waiting for Godot was produced at the Odeon Theatre de l'Europe in Paris. It ran from 16 September until 24 October. With Francois Chattot, Gerard Desarthe, Roger Jendly, Serge Merlin and Xavier Loria. Directed by Luc Bondy.

As part of the 1999 Dublin Fringe Festival, Tall tales Theatre Company marked the 10th anniversary of Beckett's death by presenting Samuel Beckett's Catastropheat Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin. It ran until the 9th of October.

Endgame was on stage in Belgium during Octoiber at the Théâtre Le Public, Brussels. Performed by Guy Pion and Alexandre Von Sivers.
