Dr. Erdem Irtem obtained his engineering degree on Materials from Eskisehir Technical University (Turkey 2009) and was exclusively awarded with an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to attend joint European master course of Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion (France, Poland and Spain 2010-2012).
In 2013, he received an early-stage researcher grant (FI-AGAUR) to conduct his doctoral thesis in IREC, Barcelona (2013-2017) on Production of Solar Fuels by Photoelectrochemical Conversion of Carbon Dioxide and obtained his title from Nanoscience program of University of Barcelona in May, 2017. In the following year, he worked as a postdoctoral ERC fellow on synthesis and application of Graphene derived materials for water treatment applications in ICRA, (Girona).
Since 2019, Dr. Erdem Irtem works as a postdoctoral researcher with subsidy in ELCAT group, University of Antwerp. His research is focused on the development of engineered nanomaterials and novel reactor concepts for electrochemical energy conversion and storage applications.
