Eva is a PhD-student at the Animal & Law Chair. Under the supervision of Prof. dr. Frederik Swennen and dr. Johan van de Voorde and as a member of the Personal rights & Property rights research group, she is working on her PhD thesis on the concept of animal dignity in law. Her broader research interests include green criminology, environmental law and philosophy.
After finishing her bachelor Liberal Arts & Sciences at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, Eva completed a Master of Arts and a Master of Laws in 2018, both with a Cum Laude result. During her studies, she did research in Guatemala and Peru for extended periods of time. Her research has an interdisciplinary character and combines insights from different fields; law, criminology, and anthropology.
