Laura Michiels works as a guest lecturer in the Department of Literature, where she teaches a course about literary theory from the perspective of gender and sexuality. She obtained a PhD in Literature from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2015. Her dissertation dealt with metatheatrical aspects to the work of the American playwright Tennessee Williams. Her current research studies the writings of Tony Kushner through the lens of neo-baroque. Articles of hers have appeared in arcadia: International Journal of Literary Culture, Amerikastudien and Journal of Contemporary Drama in English amongst others. A monograph about Tennessee Williams and metatheatre is forthcoming with McFarland.
