Lauranna Teunissen obtained a Bachelor in business management (specialization Marketing) at the AP Hogeschool in 2017. She later obtained a Master Communication sciences at the University of Antwerp in 2019. Lauranna Teunissen is currently a PhD researcher at the department of communication sciences, University of Antwerp. She is also a member of the research group MIOS. Her research focuses on the potential effect of food media on the different aspects of food literacy. Her research is supported by the cSBO InFlOOD project (2019) and an FWO grant (2020-2023). 

She helped initiate the #CoronaCookingSurvey, a spontaneous international research project led by UAntwerp along with KULeuven and UGent. The study has received a large following domestically and internationally, with over 6000 participants in Belgium and more than 30 countries joining the ranks. It has also received global attention and was covered by Reuters and New York Times.
