My research interest revolves around the 'blue carbon' dynamics of wetlands and how climate change-driven phenomena such as sea level rise (SLR) affect the organic carbon (OC) stored in their sediments. My project also investigates the environmental parameters (vegetation age, topographical features, sediment accretion rates, etc) that drive the variability in the amounts, sources, and rates of OC accumulation in the sediments of mangroves and marshes. Ultimately, my project aims on modeling the OC accumulation in these ecosystems and how they respond to present and future rates of SLR.
