Epidemiologists are mainly employed in health policy, medical scientific research, or education.
The epidemiologist’s field has greatly expanded over the last decennia. Whereas epidemiologists mainly used to focus on research in preventative medicine and public health, they now play an important role in clinical research or genetic research.
A part of the graduates will end up in a research or teaching position at an academic institution in Belgium or elsewhere in the world. Others will work in Public Health. A third group will find a position within the pharmaceutical industry. The programme is also a good base for a career as applied clinical investigator, potentially combined with a positon as medical specialist.
