Basic search engine optimisation tips

When creating or maintaining web pages, every web editor must take into account the following guidelines for search engine optimisation:

When creating a new page (branch) in the navigation tree:

Use the most important search term in the title and the slug of your page (slug = the last part of the URL of your page). Make sure that this slug is a full word and is not hyphenated.

Complete the page title with the name of your research group or faculty! This is very important!


When editing text on a web page:

Use important search terms + variations in the blue title above your text (= header 1).

Only place one blue title on each web page. Use ‘header 2’ for other titles or use subtitles in bold.
