Track 1: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) - language used: English

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) nowadays is more than the philanthropy it once used to entail. It is all about integrating social, environmental, ethical, human rights and consumer concerns into business operations and core strategy. That’s a whole lot! Especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) are therefore having a hard time implementing CSR in their business strategy.

This track will explore the opportunities and challenges of implementing CSR in business strategies. Expert on sustainability management Hans Verboven (Professor in Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics at University of Antwerp) will elaborate on, and discuss with you, the importance to rethink businesses their sustainability policy in order to create more value and profit at a lower environmental and social cost.

CSR can only be successfully implemented if all stakeholders are closely involved in the process. We invite employees from a small and a big company, and the Green Office from the University of Gent, to share their stories about how they are implementing CSR within their companies bottom up.

After being inspired by other people’s stories, you will be working on your own mini CSR-business plan. At the end of the weekend, you’ll surely be filled with new ideas to make CSR work!
