27 April 2022 - Beursschouwburg, Brussels

Seminar initiated by Hoda Siahtiri

During a day-long assembly of voices, we will explore artistic practices in relation to lamentation and grief as forms of embodied archives. The symposium will be held in the continuation of Hoda Siahtiri’s solo exhibition “No Body’s Body”, on voices and bodies of loss. A community of artists, practitioners and allies are brought together, who are engaged in practices of mourning and lamentation as forms of knowledge sharing, resistance, release and reconciliation. The intention is to create a space for sharing, reflecting and creating possibilities in facilitating the silenced voice. The Symposium visits and learns how lamenting and mourning become forms of knowledge sharing? How they become embodied and living archives? How forms of condolences turns into activism? How to encounter our pain and reconsolidate through our voices? How to reflect and act beyond our mourning voices as individuals?
