Religious Intersections

Re-negotiating religious encounter and conviviality in public spaces
Workshop, December 14, 2017

This workshop series aims at reconsidering the role of religions in contemporary public spaces by focusing on new possibilities for religious “conviviality” and dialogue. Our aim is to provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussion by bringing together scholars ranging from political philosophy, philosophy of religion and theology. The first meeting explores the possibilities for religious dialogue from within the liberal paradigm. This will be mainly done from the vantage point of Rawls’ liberal theory. The meeting will be based a one-day book symposium on the recent Rawls, Political Liberalism and Reasonable Faith (Cambridge University Press) by professor Paul Weithman (Notre Dame).
