Short description: On Friday 24th of October 2014 the Research Group Citizenship, Equality and Diversity organizes a third interdisciplinary Young Researchers Seminar on Diversity and Methods at the University of Antwerp.

In the morning, 10.00-12.30, our guest speakers Professor Hendrik Wagenaar (University of Sheffield) and Doctor Niels Spierings (Radboud University Nijmegen/London School of Economics and Political Science) will both give a lecture on diversity and gender in qualitative and quantitative research. Professor Wagenaar will discuss “Diversity and the Need for Research Heuristics instead of Methods” and Dr. Spierings will look at how quantitative techniques can be used to understand patterns of diversity and relate this to different positions on feminist research and intersectionality. There will be time for questions, discussion, and coffee.

We provide for a light lunch.

In the afternoon, 13.30-16.00, participants will be divided into two groups according to their research interest and a select number of them will be able to discuss their research with Professor Wagenaar or Dr. Spierings and their peers.

The seminar is free but registration is required. Please register at the latest on 15th of October by e-mailing When registering please provide a page on your research interest. The event will take place at the City Campus’ M-building (Sint Jacobstraat 2).
