A vibrant private sector is increasingly recognized by the international community as a possible engine of economic growth. But, can private sector-led growth result in sustainable and inclusive development? It certainly offers great potential, but also significant challenges and risks, as the rapidly changing context with its increasingly globalized value chains is opening the way for the involvement of actors from developing countries, including small-scale producers.

Keynote speakers

  • Alexander De Croo, Belgian minister for development cooperation, will open the conference on Wednesday 24 June 2015
  • Lindsay Whitfield, associate professor at Roskilde University
  • Massimiliano Calì, trade economist at the World Bank
