Skyrmions, edge states and domain walls in mesoscopic chiral p-wave superconductors

Abstract: In p-wave superconductors, new phenomena, namely skyrmions, edge states and domain walls, are expected to arise as a consequence of the orbital degree of freedom, the so-called chirality. Direct evidence of domain walls in strontium ruthenate (SrRu2O4), the only p-wave candidate, is still not convincing despite of earlier indirect measurements reporting spontaneous magnetization fields. In this talk, within the Ginzburg-Landau model I will discuss possible reasons to explain why the spontaneous currents of domain walls have remained elusive so far, and I will also suggest, based on the dynamic response of skyrmions and edge states to an external applied current, new fingerprints for the identification of p-wave superconductivity.
