Distance matters : Investigating absence from children's accounts (Ecuador)

Parental migration and parental divorce implies fathers living apart from children. Yet, little has been written about children’s perception on this absence. In this study, I use qualitative interviews with young children living within transnational divorced families, transnational non divorced families and non-transnational divorced families.
I demonstrate that, from children’s narratives, living within the three types of families though communication exists, expectations on communication possess feelings of discomfort.
Her study focuses on three locations of Ecuador: Sígsig, Biblián and Quito.
