Lectures by Rebecca Martin (Center for Global Health CDCP) and Heidi Larson (London School of Health and Tropical Medicine) in the framework of the academic seminar on the same topic
This lecture session, as well as the ensuing academic seminar (seperate registration) address the topic of combatting epidemics as a case in point to engage in the wider debate of health security versus the right to basic health within a global context. Increased mobility and migration flows render it an explicitly global issue.
- How do policy makers and media react? What effect does this have on the public and aid assistance? How may panic be avoided and intervention made more efficient? What lessons have we learnt from recent epidemics?
- What strategies do these call for? What code of conduct is required?
