About the book launch

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child, Gamze Erdem Türkelli and Wouter Vandenhole of the Law and Development Research Group will launch their legal commentary to the Convention and its Protocols at the end of a two day conference on children’s rights – from a protected to an empowered childhood. They will chair a roundtable discussion on the opportunities and threats for children’s rights in the next 30 years.

The Commentary is a fully up-to-date, solid legal work on children’s rights. It offers a contemporary legal perspective on the inherently interdisciplinary field of children’s rights. It responds to the scarcity of legal commentaries in a landscape where several handbooks covering different disciplines have been published in recent years. It is succinct and seeks to capture the essence, yet offers a sophisticated analysis of children’s rights law and branches out into other disciplines where relevant in light of the recent legal and social developments.
